Designed to conquer the fear of starting to draw and paint plants in watercolour. Each day is quite structured, and Elaine Searle uses a step-by-step method that encourages rapid progress, giving confidence to those with little or no experience. There is much to cover, but we create an atmosphere that is both supportive and non-competitive. The focus will be on enjoyment together with personal achievement.

Each student works from the same type of plant and the small class size (max 8) allows for plenty of individual attention. Once the drawing stage is complete, simple exercises and demonstrations help to introduce the basic techniques of using watercolour for plant portraits. The aim is that everyone should go home with a painting to be proud of and the confidence to continue on their own or to enjoy advanced classes.
